China’s ambassador to the UK, Zheng Zeguang, met with Liverpool Lord Mayor Mary Rasmussen in Liverpool Town Hall on Monday. Liverpool shares a long-standing sister-city relationship with Shanghai that goes back to 1999, and has established friendship partnerships with the cities of Qingdao, Tianjin, Xi’an, and Kunming.
The envoy’s first formal visit outside London since taking office signaled closer city-to-city cooperation between China and the UK, as the nations marked 50th years of ambassadorial diplomatic relations.
