Qingdao plans to build itself into an international gateway hub city, and accelerates efforts to build an competitive city in transportation and an international comprehensive transportation hub. According to the newly issued Qingdao Implementation Plan of Building a Strong Transportation City by following the instructions in the Guidelines of Building a strong Transportation Country and Qingdao Implementation Plan of Building an International Comprehensive Transportation Hub, Qingdao will be built into an international comprehensive transportation hub in the main by 2035 and in all respects by 2050.
In regard to building a strong transportation city, Qingdao has planned for 92 key projects and will work with foresight on strategic reserve projects, including the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS)-based free flow expressway tolling system, the high-speed railway logistics development mode, the autonomous driving test section or zone construction, the demand response-based bus system construction and the innovative unmanned delivery; in regard to building an international comprehensive transportation hub, Qingdao has planned for 36 key projects and will work with foresight on strategic reserve projects including the high-speed maglev train test line project, the Qingdao-Linyi Expressway, the high-speed railway express base, the urban dimensional logistics system and the autonomous driving ship R&D and applications.
