Qingdao, Dec. 13 (Report from our newspaper) – The Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently issued a "Public Announcement on the Proposed Designation of 15 Tourist Attractions as National 4A-Level Tourist Attractions." A total of 15 scenic areas across the province are slated for this designation, with the highly anticipated Qingdao Historic Urban Cultural and Tourist Area included in the list.
According to the national standard "Classification and Evaluation of Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions" and the "Administrative Measures for the Quality Grades of Tourist Attractions in Shandong Province," and following recommendations from respective municipal culture and tourism administrative departments, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized a comprehensive evaluation. The following 15 sites have met the national standard requirements and are proposed for designation as National 4A-Level Tourist Attractions: Jinan Bronze Mountain Grand Canyon Scenic Area, Jinan Lingyan Mountain Scenic Area, Qingdao Historic Urban Cultural and Tourist Area, Zibo Boshan District Yanshen Ancient Town Scenic Area, Zibo Yiyuan Niulang Zhinu (Cowherd and Weaver Girl) Scenic Area, Zaozhuang Tengzhou Lianqing Mountain Scenic Area, Jining Weishan County Weishan Lake Fisherman's Water Street Scenic Area, Weihai Banyuewan (Half Moon Bay) Scenic Area, Rizhao Bailuwan (Egret Bay) Scenic Area, Linyi Langya Ancient City Tourist Area, Linyi Tancheng County "Intoxicated by the East Wind" Tourist Area, Dezhou Qihe Quancheng Oulebao Animal Kingdom, Liaocheng Gaotang County Shuanghai Lake Scenic Area, Liaocheng Linqing City Canal Cultural and Tourist Area, and Heze Juye County Qinglong Mountain Scenic Area.
The rating of the Qingdao Historic Urban Cultural and Tourist Area marks a significant milestone for Qingdao in strengthening the protection and inheritance of its cultural heritage and promoting the high-quality, integrated development of culture and tourism. Currently, both the historic urban area and Laoshan Mountain have been included in China's Tentative List for World Cultural Heritage. The next step for the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism is to deeply explore the "root" and "soul" of Qingdao's tourism, accelerate the integrated development of its marine, bay, island, and urban resources, and expedite the construction of an international coastal tourism and resort destination.
