With pleasant summer weather and the aroma of freshly brewed beer filling the air, Qingdao is welcoming a surge of visitors this season. To further enhance public cultural and tourism services and better serve tourists on the ground, the Qingdao Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau has introduced an innovative "2+3" cultural and tourism service station program through the Qingdao Cultural Center. Combining permanent service stations with mobile service stations, the initiative integrates static visitor information services with dynamic cultural performances, breaking the traditional boundaries of public cultural spaces and ensuring that public cultural services are not only visible, but also truly engaging.
The program's two permanent service stations have become new showcases for the city's visitor services. Located in Qingdao's historic urban area, the Qingdao Cultural Center's main venue (22 Pingdu Road) and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Theme Pavilion (5 Longkou Road) are both popular cultural landmarks. The main venue regularly hosts public art programs and exhibitions, while the Theme Pavilion, Qingdao's first live intangible cultural heritage experience space, continuously presents immersive themed exhibitions featuring traditional craftsmanship and folk culture. With the launch of the new cultural and tourism service stations, both venues have expanded their functions beyond exhibitions, cultural experiences and public programs. Visitors can now receive tourist information services, obtain recommendations for local attractions, and pick up complimentary travel brochures, maps and other visitor information materials, providing convenient and professional assistance throughout their stay.
The program's three mobile service stations are bringing cultural services directly to Qingdao's most popular public spaces. Every Wednesday evening, the Qingdao Cultural Center sets up a service station at the North Square of Zhanqiao Pier, accompanied by cultural pop-up performances under the "Scenic Area Plus" initiative. At Shuilongchizi Square, the lively sounds of the clarinet and the graceful melodies of the bamboo flute echo through century-old liyuan neighborhoods. Meanwhile, at May Fourth Square, the "Enjoy Every Season, Weekly Music Carnival" continues to entertain audiences, blending live performances with evening lights, sea breezes and ocean waves. Visitor service desks are available at all three locations, allowing audiences to enjoy performances while receiving travel information and collecting promotional materials.
Together, these initiatives are creating a coordinated citywide public cultural and tourism service network. The Qingdao Cultural Center's "Happy Holiday Learning" Program, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Lecture Series, the Qunxing Storytelling Stage, and its ongoing cultural pop-up performances are all operating alongside the newly launched "2+3" cultural and tourism service stations, creating an integrated service model that combines permanent venues with mobile outreach. This summer, through professional services, vibrant cultural activities and thoughtful visitor engagement, Qingdao is presenting a more welcoming, people-centered cultural landscape for residents and travelers alike.
