New Urban Cultural Landmark Opens to Public! Shandong’s First Coffee Museum Welcomes Visitors

Oct 02, 2026Byiqingdao

During the National Day holiday, the Qingdao Four Minutes Coffee Museum officially opened at No.4 Changyi Road, within Qingdao Huatong Urban Cultural and Creative Industrial Park — the former site of the 1928 match factory. The long-idled old workshop has been revitalized by coffee culture, where industrial heritage blends with everyday poetic charm. It offers a tranquil retreat for local residents and tourists to unwind and savour quiet moments, emerging as a new urban cultural venue integrating exhibitions, popular science, roasting experiences and social leisure.

No.4 Changyi Road carries memories of Qingdao’s modern industrial past. Its red-brick walls, original factory beams and mottled textures preserve traces of the city’s industrial era. In line with Qingdao’s three-year urban renewal campaign, Qingdao Huatong Urban Industrial Park Investment and Operation (Group) Co., Ltd. follows the brand philosophy of revitalising urban stock spaces and building a vibrant, human-centred urban industrial community. Adhering to the renovation principle of “minor upgrades, light intervention and enhanced functionality”, the company focuses on asset activation and park operation to build the state-owned enterprise urban renewal and industrial empowerment brand “Park Share +”. Instead of large-scale demolition and reconstruction, the project preserves the original industrial architecture to the maximum extent, upgrades infrastructure, improves property and supporting services, and targets investment promotion for cultural and creative industries. The once-derelict factory has transformed from an industrial rust belt into a dynamic cultural and creative lifestyle corridor.

Benefiting from the park’s premium venue and full-spectrum operational services, Shandong’s first coffee museum, Qingdao Four Minutes Coffee Museum, has settled here. After elaborate preparation, the museum opened its doors to visitors over the National Day holiday. Rooted in the historic match factory site, it exhibits vintage coffee equipment, historical footage and origin archives from across the globe, tracing the full chain of coffee cultivation, processing and roasting. It also explores Qingdao’s century-old local coffee heritage, combining physical displays, sensory tastings and educational sharing. Visitors can learn about the journey of coffee beans across continents and grasp the depth of coffee culture. They may also observe the whole coffee roasting process up close, hold a cup of specialty coffee, and witness a romantic dialogue between history and modern life amid light and shadow in the old factory building.

“We chose Huatong Urban Cultural and Creative Industrial Park because we were captivated by the unique aura of this old factory. The park provides not only spacious, distinctive physical premises but also full-cycle operational support for industrial projects, making our vision of integrating industrial heritage and coffee culture take root,” said the curator of Qingdao Four Minutes Coffee Museum.

Aged red bricks bear the marks of time, while the aroma of coffee writes new chapters for the city. This National Day holiday, come to Huatong Urban Cultural and Creative Industrial Park at No.4 Changyi Road to encounter industrial relics and coffee culture. Savour time and coffee fragrance in the old workshop, and experience the vibrant changes brought by Qingdao’s urban renewal.
