To bring forth its new lines of design, Hu Sheguang Intl Fashion & Art Season held 8 runway shows at the start of June in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province.

Taking place at a landmark local community A Tour A Life, the 4-day event consists of Hu's "A Place" haute couture premiere in China, his latest collections featuring baroque elements and cheongsam.

This time, Hu launched a very versatile cheongsam design which combines the gentle silhouette of traditional cheongsam and Western dinner dress. It can be worn in three different ways.

One of the unique highlights that captured people's attention was the group of female models on the runway. With an average age of 55, they altered the body stereotype of fashion and showcased the glamour of Chinese women in a new era.

"Our special model team was set up in 2019 to advocate a fresh lifestyle for women," Hu said. "Instead of using extravagant fabrics and decorations, I'd like to explore the power and strength of Chinese women in a more innovative and diversified way."

These models, mostly fashion lovers with a career of their own, have had the chance to walk down the runways of many fashion weeks at home and abroad. Han Bin, the oldest of them all, participated in New York Fashion Week and became the oldest model in Chinese fashion history.

On June 2, the Fashion & Art Season also held a benefit show. Models from the age of 4 to 80 shared the same stage to raise people's awareness on filial piety – one of the most fundamental Chinese values.
