Qingdao Enterprises Go Global to Tap the "Golden Springboard" for Eurasian Economic and Trade Cooperation

Apr 13, 2026Byiqingdao

Recently, Qingdao’s first government-led overseas economic and trade delegation of 2026 launched a market development trip to Turkey. The delegation comprised 30 key local enterprises from multiple sectors and achieved fruitful economic and trade outcomes, helping Qingdao further deepen its Eurasian market layout and integrate deeply into the Belt and Road Initiative. The visit secured intented cooperation deals worth 1.57 billion yuan and delivered two historic breakthroughs — the establishment of an overseas warehouse in Turkey and an overseas business service platform for Qingdao enterprises.

The visit coincides with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey. Turkey has implemented a visa exemption policy for Chinese citizens starting this year. Serving as a Eurasian transport hub and a member of the EU Customs Union, Turkey allows goods produced locally to enter the EU market duty-free, making it a “golden springboard” for Qingdao enterprises to radiate across Eurasia and facilitate international transit trade. Supported by unimpeded land-sea logistics and strong industrial complementarity between the two sides, as well as Turkey’s young population and high urbanization rate, bilateral economic and trade cooperation boasts a solid foundation. In the first two months of this year, bilateral trade volume surged 37.2% year-on-year.

The delegation completed an efficient and pragmatic schedule across three major Turkish cities, holding 11 economic and trade events and two special "Qingdao excellent productions" promotion fairs. It engaged with 82 Turkish enterprises and reached more than 30 cooperation intentions covering agricultural equipment, food processing, new energy, infrastructure construction, auto parts and other fields. Nearly half of the participating enterprises have pledged to advance follow-up negotiations. Multiple Qingdao enterprises achieved targeted industrial docking in sectors including the whole chili industrial chain, geothermal energy, eco-friendly tires, and new energy vehicle distribution.

This overseas mission has reshaped the overseas expansion model of Qingdao enterprises. Adopting a full-cycle working mechanism of "online pre-heating, offline in-depth negotiation and post-visit follow-up optimization", Qingdao has set up regular cooperation mechanisms with industrial parks and chambers of commerce across Turkey and launched two-way delegation exchange programs. Meanwhile, a professional legal team accompanied the delegation to build a cross-border compliance service system and open up full-chain service channels covering cross-border business, legal affairs and taxation.

This initiative marks the first practical application after the release of the Action Plan for Further Improving the Comprehensive Service System of "Overseas Qingdao". Adopts a government-enterprise collaborative model, it upgrades traditional single trade docking to a new international development pattern featuring industrial rooting, full industrial chain layout and compliance guarantee, helping Qingdao seize a strategic pivot for Eurasian economic and trade cooperation amid the restructuring of global supply chains.
