In the first half of this year, Haixi Bay's shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry achieved an output value of 15.81 billion yuan, up 18.7 percent year on year, demonstrating an across-the-board acceleration across the entire industrial chain.
Orders and production capacity: The leading enterprise, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, saw its order backlog exceed 100 vessels, with delivery schedules extending to 2030, ranking first globally in orders for large bulk carriers and very large ore carriers. Supporting companies such as CSSC Marine Engine and Haixi Heavy Industry are also running at full capacity.
Technological breakthroughs: The world's first 16-megawatt tension leg floating wind power platform, "Haiyou Anlan," was commissioned; China's first commercially delivered ammonia-fueled marine engine was completed; and the country's first mobile multifunctional offshore service platform was delivered. Multiple technological achievements have filled domestic gaps.
Green transformation: Green vessels account for over 80 percent of the order backlog, with a multi-fuel technology roadmap covering LNG, methanol, and ammonia. COOEC has achieved high-proportion integration of offshore wind power into oilfield grids, and CSSC Marine Engine has made breakthroughs in low-carbon fuel technologies.
The Haixi Bay base now hosts more than 100 enterprises and is accelerating its transition toward high-end, intelligent, and green development, aiming to become a world-class marine equipment industry hub.
