Google Cross-border E-commerce Acceleration Center Officially Settles in Shinan District, Set for Operation by Year-end

Oct 13, 2026Byiqingdao

Reporters learned from Shinan District that the Google (Qingdao) Cross-border E-commerce Acceleration Center has officially settled in Shinan District and will be located at Haitian Center, with scheduled official operation by the end of this year. Promoted by Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Shinan District, the project will help local cross-border e-commerce enterprises strengthen their global outreach capacity and operational efficiency, further spur the agglomeration of cross-border e-commerce service providers, and build a brand-new industrial service ecosystem for enterprises going global.

As Google’s core empowerment platform for its in-depth engagement in China’s cross-border e-commerce sector, the Google Cross-border E-commerce Acceleration Center is tasked with helping regional cross-border enterprises reduce reliance on third-party traffic sources, carry out branded operations via independent websites, and drive the comprehensive transformation of foreign trade from the extensive "product export" model to high-value-added "brand globalization". The settlement in Qingdao and rooting in Shinan marks a key strategic move for Google to tap into the northern China market and advance its trade layout in Northeast Asia.

Leveraging Google’s global technological resources, traffic channels and overseas ecosystem strengths, the center will deliver systematic professional training to help enterprises deepen their understanding of independent website development and operation, and improve their practical capabilities for global expansion through independent sites. Meanwhile, the center will build a communication and cooperation platform for independent website ecosystem partners. It will host regular industry seminars and thematic salons to bring together cross-border exporters and ecosystem partners. The platform will connect enterprises with high-quality resources covering logistics, payment, website construction and other core sectors, offering one-stop solutions for cross-border e-commerce enterprises to build independent websites.

The launch of the center will further reinforce Qingdao’s physical carrier for digital cross-border e-commerce services, boosting the cross-border e-commerce industry of Qingdao and even the Jiaodong Peninsula into a new phase of branded, digital and international development. As Qingdao’s core urban area for modern service industries and the primary hub for shipping, trade and finance industries, Shinan District boasts a solid foundation of opening-up and foreign trade. Its total import and export volume of goods consistently stays above 10 billion US dollars. New forms of foreign trade such as cross-border e-commerce and digital trade are booming. The district keeps fostering cross-border e-commerce market entities, and its vibrant foreign-related economy provides robust industrial ecosystem and market support for the project’s implementation and operation.

Moving forward, Shinan District will capitalize on its strengths in opening-up, optimize resource coordination and scenario provision, and provide supporting guarantees for the center’s physical operation, enterprise matchmaking and industrial agglomeration to ensure tangible outcomes of the project. Supported by this platform, local enterprises will be empowered to build proprietary international brands. The project will exert stronger spillover effects, attract high-quality northern cross-border entities to cluster, cultivate a digital trade industrial cluster with northern characteristics and distinct Qingdao identity, build a digital trade hub covering the Jiaodong Peninsula and linking Northeast Asia, unleash new momentum for regional foreign trade, and advance high-quality development of the regional open economy.
